Ficktones

In 2005 Ficktones was formed.

The idea to start a band together, was something we had been talking about for a long time.

Meeting every year at various Bluegrass festivals and keeping in touch, we found out that every time we jammed or talked about music, we would turn to more “non-traditional” music like Fleck, Grisman, Furtado, Newgrass R. and Thile etc.

Our mutual interest in this music, made us decide not to be a traditional Bluegrass band, but to play more “Newgrassy”, “Jazzy”, Jazzgrassy??? stuff, but still keep a Bluegrass feel to it. Basicly, not to be limited to just one sort of music, but to take just about any song/tune that we like and see were it will take us and leave room for improvisation and presence.
